"CSR" Mission Statement

The mission of this website is to expand and promote mutual understanding and bilateral relationships between the people and government of the Republic of Indonesia with Anglo-American or English speaking communities either in America or the west, worldwide; and with Anglos located in Indonesia (as expatriates or “expats”) as well as with English speaking Indonesians throughout the Archipelago of Indonesia or Indonesian diaspora throughout the world.

"Mutual Understanding" can only come with acceptance of one another - even with our mutual faults or shortcomings; we must first and foremost accept one another, respect one another, trust one another, and refuse to fall into "xenophobia" of one another, and to continually work towards peace and harmony with one another.  "Mutual Understanding" can only be achieved with these principles or "Pancasila" as the foundation for building firm and strong pillars of mutually rewarding and beneficial bilateral relationships with one another. Open dialogue and transparency with one another is another prerequisite for building a strong and lasting "MoU" with one another; one which will be firmly rooted like bamboo.

DISCLAIMER

While I frequently delve into “sensitive” issues involving social, political, ideological and cultural matters in this website, I am not a:

  • provocateur of conflict
  • disturber of religious harmony (except where such “harmony” is the systematic  squelching and quashing of Christianity and other non Muslim faiths, and other fundamental ancillary human rights issues)
  • intruder of social order and stability (except where such “social order” and “stability” are anything but orderly and stable).

I retain the right to be a social “conscientious objector” or social commentator with the intent of providing news and insights (in an intellectual capacity and in a respectful manner) that serve to either re-affirm a reader’s already strongly held beliefs or opinions on a given matter or topic; or to enlighten someone to THINK and make their own informed and educated independent conclusion or opinion on a given matter or subject.

The only “insurgency” which I aim to start or lead (through intellectual discourse and open dialogue) is one of a noble and honorable nature which is intended to ultimately foster better and more harmonious “bi-lateral relations” and “mutual understanding” between the people and government of the United States with the people and government of the Republic of Indonesia.  My “Stratego Academica” or my “CSR” (Corporate Social Responsibility) mission statement, therefore, also encompasses the desire to promote greater knowledge of cross-cultural affairs and issues. It aims to not merely provide knowledge and information for the sake of knowledge per se; but to provide a deeper understanding or discernment – a liberating wisdom.

1.   “Stratego Academica”

·         “Stratego” comes from the Greek word Stratçgos, which literally means “to lead an army” (“stratos” means army; “ago” means leading or to lead).

·         “Academica” comes from the Greek word Ἀκαδημία which relates to Hekademia, a sacred grove of olive trees outside of ancient Athens dedicated to Athena (the goddess of wisdom) which became a site for an “institution of higher learning consisting of honorable members.”
