Although at the present time, Indonesian land law does not allow a foreign person to hold title or deed to real property in their own name; there are 2 loopholes or ways to circumvent this which does allow a foreign expat or investor to own real property here in Indonesia. The first method is by using a "nominee" or Indonesian national or citizen in whose name the property will be initially titled. The second method is to purchase the property in the name of a foreign company or business entity. There is no requirement for a foreign company or corporation to have any partner, principal or Board of Director be an Indonesian citizen.
